Music & Choir
Music has always been a vital part of worship at Orleans United Church (OUC). The staff at OUC work hard to program a mix of contemporary and traditional sounds, taking care that our hymns and anthems reflect a progressive and inclusive theology but also embrace the best of our United Church heritage.
Our Musicians
Our Music Director, Scott Richardson, leads worship on piano, guitar, and organ, and directs our choir. We are also blessed with a number of gifted instrumentalists and vocal soloists who offer their gifts throughout the year, especially while the choir is on summer hiatus.
Our Choir
We are very fortunate to have a dedicated group of volunteer singers leading the music every week at OUC. Our SATB1 choir rehearses Thursday evenings, offering uplifting choral selections most Sundays between September and early June, as well as special music for Advent, Christmas, and Easter.
We are always looking for new voices: if you are interested in joining the OUC Choir, please contact the church office and the Music Director will get in touch with you. We work from scores and cover a lot of ground each week, so music reading is an asset, but it is not a requirement to join.
Audio-visual Support
OUC has a well-equipped A-V system. We have a team of experienced A-V technicians who are actively involved in producing the weekly worship services, as well as funerals, weddings and special events such as concerts.
We are always on the lookout for new talent. Please get in touch with the church office if you would like more information about how you can get involved.
1The initials SATB stand for the voice types: S for soprano, A for alto, T for tenor and B for bass.
