What to Expect

What is worship like? We start at 10 a.m. on Sunday morning and the typical service lasts one hour. Worship includes prayers, singing, reading of scripture, a sermon, special musical performances by the choir or soloists, and announcements. Join us in the Fellowship Hall after worship for refreshments and conversation.

What about kids? Children are an integral part of the Orleans United Church family. Kids attend the first part of worship and then children in grades J-K to 6 go to Sunday School. On Sundays when Communion is served, children come back to the Sanctuary and participate in that sacrament. There is a Nursery for children who are not in school yet (i.e. 3 years of age and under).

Where do I park? There is lots of parking behind the building and it can be accessed from either the Orleans Boulevard or Sugar Creek Way entrances.

What do I wear? Most people are dressed casually for Sunday morning church services. A few people dress more formally. Wear whatever is comfortable for you.

What about environmental sensitivities? Our policy is that people should avoid wearing scented deodorant or perfume in order to maintain a safe indoor environment for users who have breathing issues such as asthma and COPD.

What if I have questions? There are greeters and a Welcome Table just inside the lobby. Any of those volunteers would be happy to answer your questions before the worship service starts. Look for individuals wearing name tags after worship. They can also help you out. The ministers would also be glad to meet you.
